Our Philosophy

Our goal is to provide compassionate, honest, scientific, and transparent dentistry.  We are committed to creating a relaxing dental experience during your visit, and maybe even a transcendental one!

Dentistry can be intimidating as often procedures and steps are not explained to patients.  We at Transcendental believe in transparent conversation and in educating patients about their oral health. We approach diagnosis by carefully collecting and considering your concerns and dental history, and then developing a treatment plan according to your personal goals. We take a comprehensive approach in treating your oral health as part of your overall health.

Understanding the anxiety that many people feel about dental treatment, we spend the time with each patient reviewing options of treatment.  We savor the opportunity to connect with each of our patients, discover what makes them unique and hear their amazing stories. Thanks to Dr. Mohajer’s special training in sedation dentistry, she will be able to provide options for anxiety relief in cases where sedation is helpful for patients with dental-based anxieties. Over time, many of these patients are able to overcome their dental phobias as they experience dentistry in a new gentle way under the care of Dr. Mohajer.

We believe in comprehensive dental care that utilizes the most advanced science and technology available. Prevention and proactive approaches to dental care are core to our philosophy.  Through conservative treatment techniques, we strive to preserve your natural and biological tooth structure and dental health.

A team approach is sometimes necessary for the best care to be provided to a patient.  In cases when the involvement of a specialist and a team approach is indicated, Dr. Mohajer will work closely and provide advice in referral to appropriate providers.

We are committed to helping you have a comforting experience at our dental practice. At Transcendental, you can expect personalized treatments with your ultimate satisfaction in mind. We practice science-based dentistry and pride ourselves on educating our patients so they can make the best decision for their oral care.

Restorative Dentistry

Naturally, you want to feel comfortable when you chew, eat and smile. Restorative dentistry is about repairing and restoring proper form and function to your teeth. Dr. Mohajer uses tooth colored fillings, onlays/inlays, or dental crowns to strengthen and stabilize damaged teeth, implant and dental bridges to fill spaces where individual teeth have been lost and dentures or partial dentures to replace multiple missing teeth and restore bite function.

Sedation Dentistry

Anxiety about visiting the dentist is a common cause for people to avoid seeking dental care. This anxiety can be rooted in many causes including previously negative dental experience, or fear of judgment. Understanding this fully, Dr. Mohajer  has dedicated most of her career as a dentist  providing care to severely anxious patient populations. Dr. Mohajer is a Licensed sedation dentist. At Transcendental you can trust  that you can complete your treatment with ultimate comfort knowing that we offer many sedation options. Dr. Mohajer carefully reviews your medical and dental history, discusses your concerns, and ensures you feel comfortable moving forward with treatment and during your treatment date. We offer varying sedation level options such as conscious sedation via IV or  oral medication, light sedation, or inhalation with Nitrous Oxide also known as “Laughing Gas”. You may be a candidate for one of the sedation options. These options can help alleviate anxiety and promote a relaxed experience during your dental care.

Cosmetic Dentistry

You want to feel comfortable and confident when you smile. But common problems such as chipped teeth, gaps between front teeth, stains and discoloration can ruin an otherwise healthy, functional smile. That’s where cosmetic dentistry comes in. It’s all about how you look, and how you want to look.
With cosmetic procedures to fit any budget, we offer different options for whitening your teeth to a dazzling bright smile. Dr. Mohajer has meticulous hand skills and astute aesthetics when it comes to tooth color bonding for a natural undetectable look. She also provides beautifully crafted porcelain veneers to correct crooked, poorly spaced and discolored front teeth for a smile you can be proud of. She offers invisalign option when improvement on alignment is all your need to achieve your ideal smile. Placing your trust in our smile design will ensure that you achieve the smile you have always envisioned!

Invisalign

Dr. Mohajer, a Certified Invisalign® Provider, uses the Invisalign system (a virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth) to achieve the smile you've always dreamed of. Using advanced 3-D computer-imaging technology, Invisalign depicts your complete treatment plan, from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position. Then a series of clear aligners are custom-made for your teeth to move them little by little. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series, until the final position of your teeth is achieved. The length of treatment depends on the severity of your case and can only be determined by your doctor.

Inlays and Onlays

When indicated, Dr. Mohajer will recommend Inlays/Onlays to conservatively repair teeth that have large defective fillings or have been damaged by decay. An inlay is an indirect restoration fitted to a cavity in a tooth and cemented into place. An onlay is essentially identical to an inlay with the exception that it extends to replace one or more of the chewing cusps that have also been affected. These restorations are generally more conservative because less tooth structure is removed during the preparation preserving more of your natural occlusion (bite). In some cases where a tooth is severely damaged, a crown may be necessary to protect and strengthen the tooth structure. A crown completely covers all surfaces of the tooth above the gum line.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is an endodontic procedure.

Signs and symptoms indicating you may need a root canal:

  • Spontaneous pain without eating or drinking or
  • Extreme sensitivity to cold
  • “Hot tooth” that feels better with drinking ice water
  • Pain with pressure and chewing
  • Inflammation, swelling, or tenderness in the gum
  • Tooth discoloration and darkening

Root canal is a common procedure for restoring an infected tooth, or a tooth with a large cavity or fracture that affects the nerve of the tooth. Root canal is also indicated in cases when the tooth has an abscess or nerve damage due to trauma.

Root canal treatment is a procedure that helps with elimination of bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the tooth and save the natural tooth. During root canal treatment, after ensuring you are numb and comfortable, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed. Root canal treated teeth are typically restored with a crown or onlay/inlay restoration for better seal and stability.

Dental Implant

Dental implants are made from titanium or zirconia and can offer the most non-invasive solution for replacement of a missing tooth. Dental implants can be an ideal treatment both in terms of function and aesthetic, providing options for patients missing single or multiple teeth. Today dental implants allow for replacement of teeth in fully edentulous patients while providing a fixed prosthesis that gives patients a beautiful smile and function. At Transcendental, we believe in providing dentistry that is supported by the latest research and technological advancement and backed by empirical data. This is why Dr. Mohajer’s implant surgical protocol involves use of the most reliable implant components in the market and guided surgical technique with help of 3D imaging and planning technology to ensure the most accurate and predictable results.

Oral Surgery

Tooth Extraction

Sometimes a tooth is compromised such that it is not restorable or has a very poor prognosis. These teeth need to be extracted before they cause additional problems such as oral infection or more severe health issues. Luckily, modern dentistry offers many options to replace teeth that must be extracted.

Bone grafting and socket preservation

In unfortunate circumstances where a tooth is deemed unrestorable and has to be removed, the jaw bone surrounding the tooth space, also referred to as the socket, goes through remodeling during the healing process. This is because the bone does not serve the purpose of holding the tooth anymore. This remodeling of the bone can cause drastic resorption of the bone in the area of the missing tooth, and can lead to more severe consequences such as shifting of teeth and malocclusion. This is why today’s standard of care recommends taking steps to preserve the bone structure by bone grafting and socket preservation at the time of extraction. During this procedure, the socket is packed with bone graft particles to function as a matrix for your own cells and bioregenerative material is used to help enhance your cells’ ability to heal while preserving the integrity of the bone structure in your jaw.

Pediatric Dentistry

Your children are always welcome. Dr. Mohajer and the team love children and will do everything they can to make your children feel comfortable and cared-for. The team is also happy to teach each child how to brush, floss and eat properly as we believe that preventative treatment is the best approach for a good head start on a lifetime of healthy smiles.

Dr. Mohajer monitors your child’s growth and development at each regular visit.

Your child deserves the most compassionate care and we are here to make that happen.

Periodontics and Hygiene

Healthy Gums For Healthy Smiles

Periodontal disease, including gingivitis and periodontitis, is the number one cause of tooth loss in adults. That's because your gums form the foundation of your teeth and your smile. The best way to keep your teeth healthy is to maintain healthy gums that are free of periodontal disease.  A thorough periodontal assessment is a key part of an oral health evaluation. It helps us determine the condition of the underlying foundation before dental care is initiated.

Signs of gum disease includes bleeding, swelling, redness, sensitivity,  and pain on and around the gum.

Besides emphasis on daily oral hygiene routine, to keep your periodontal health,  we recommend professional dental cleaning every six months to allow for removal of plaque and calculus that accumulate in hard to reach areas in the mouth.

Neglecting oral hygiene can lead to gum disease known as gingivitis, and in more severe cases, periodontitis. Periodontitis is diagnosed with presence of bone loss and deeper pocketing around the teeth. Periodontitis is a chronic disease and though there is no cure for chronic gum disease, there is treatment to help stop the progression of the disease  and stabilize your gum health.

In case of presence of periodontitis, deep scaling and root planing to ensure the elimination of tartar, dental plaque and bacteria is indicated. In most cases when periodontal disease is present, follow up maintenance visit for cleaning is recommended for every 3-4 months to help eliminate plaque accumulation in deeper pockets around the teeth and buildup of calculus.
